The filmmakers of Saand Ki Aankh have released the official trailer today. The teaser was released in early July to a lot of interest. If you are curious about the title of the film, it translates to Bull’s Eye.
The film follows Bhumi Pednekar as Chandro Tomar and Taapsee Pannu as Prakashi Tomar, the two sharpshooters known as Shooter Dadis who began their journey at the age of 50 under the coach Dr Rajpal, played by Viineet Kumar Singh. They did this in the hopes of encouraging their daughters towards a bright future. Prakash Jha will also be seen as Rattan Singh and Shaad Randhawa in an important role. Watch the trailer now.
In 1998, coach Dr Rajpal who had been national level player in shooting convinced local government to open the Johri Rifle Club in Johri village in the interiors of Uttar Pradesh. But he needed to find people to join it now. The Tomar family was very renowned in the Johri village. Jai Singh’s wife Chandro Tomar and Bhandwar Singh’s wife Prakashi Tomar had 45 grandchildren in total, the matriarchs of the family. In totality, the Tomar family consists of 70 members. At the age of 50, they picked up a gun for the sake of their daughters in the hopes of encouraging them towards a bright future, only to discover their own skill of being exceptional shooters. They won 352 medals each in the course of their veteran professional life as a shooter.
Saand Ki Aankh marks the directorial debut of Tushar Hiranandani, who is credited with writing at least twenty feature films. It is written by Balwinder Singh Janjua, who wrote Firangi and Mubarakan.
Produced by Reliance Entertainment and Anurag Kashyap in Association with Chalk and Cheese Films & Nidhi Parmar, the film finds a Creative Producer in Anurag Kashyap. Saand Ki Aankh is slated for a Diwali release, on 25 October 2019.
