The trailer of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhaan has been released today on 20 January, and there are many reasons to fall in love with it. The film stars Kartik Singh (Ayushmann Khurrana) and Aman Tripathi (Jitendra Kumar) as two men in love who can’t get the latter’s family to accept their relationship. Shankar Tripathi (Gajraj Rao) plays the strict father of Jitendra who would do anything in his might to set his son straight, literally, even as his mother Sunaina Tripathi (Neena Gupta) is open to the notion. He brings along a beautiful young woman to woo his son and when nothing works, he even beats his lover to a pulp.Through it all, the two gay men relentlessly fight for their right to love freely and proudly. Jitendra Kumar makes his big mainstream debut, is a regular actor in many TVF web series, known most for TVF Pitchers. The ensemble cast sees Khurrana’s Badhaai Ho co-actors Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta join him, and the rest of the cast is rounded up by Manurishi Chaddha, Sunita Rajwar, Maanvi Gagroo, Pankhuri Awasthy and Neeraj Singh.
Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is the sequel written and directed by Hitesh Kewalya, who was the co-writer of the 2017 film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. It is produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma for Colour Yellow Productions and T-Series.
Like Ayushmann’s many other movies, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhaan is also set in a middle-class Indian home, where he serves as a torchbearer to all discussions regarding sex. The animation teaser revealing the cast was released in September 2019, revealed the release date of the film to be 13 March 2020, unlike the original plan to release it on Valentine’s Day. But the release date has been brought forward again. Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhaan will now release on 21 February 2020.
