Gullak translates to a piggy bank we keep at home to collect loose change. But as TVF (The Viral Fever) says, their new web series Gullak is not for coins, but for memories and tales created in the lifetime of a family.
Gullak is the story of the Mishra family’s four members, Santosh, Shanti and their sons Annu and Aman. As TVF likes to pun in its signature style, they remind us it is not a gritty and dark story of petty crime, sorrow and revenge set in the heart of smalltown North India, but rather sunny and sweet. The family bickers like all families, but is bound together by humour, wit and love. And we agree. The trailer is sure to put a smile on your face. Watch here.
In the trailer above, you enjoy debates on whether to buy a Bullet (motorbike) or a scooter, how to pronounce the word “Inverter” and should undergarments be washed in a washing machine?
The series has been directed by Amrit Raj Gupta, who has previously directed TVF Bachelors. The cast includes Geetanjali Kulkarni, Jameel Khan, Vaibhav Raj Gupta and Harsh Mayar. Gullak will be available for streaming on Sony LIV on June 27.
