Kesari is based on the true story of Battle of Saragarhi, 1897. Often regards as one of the bravest battle ever fought, it is the story of 21 courageous Sikhs soldiers (of the British Indian Army) who fought 10,000 Afghan invaders against all odds. All 21 of them were posthumously awarded the Indian Order of Merit, the highest gallantry award for an Indian soldier in that time.
The title Kesari comes from the saffron they were clad in. Watch the trailer here.

Starring Akshay Kumar in the role of the leader of the contingent, Havildar Ishar Singh, and Parineeti Chopra, the film is directed by Anurag Singh, the Punjabi film director of films including the Jatt & Juliet series starring Diljit Dosanjh. It also stars Siddhant Sharma, Ashwath Bhatt, Pawan Malhotra and Rana Ranbir.

It is co-produced by Akshay Kumar (through Cape Of Good Hope) and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and releases on Holi, March 21, 2019. Pre-book your tickets here.

And if you don’t like this on screen adaptation, there will be Rajkumar Santoshi’s film titled 21: Battle of Saragarhi starring Randeep Hooda releasing someday. Ajay Devgan had announced his version, Sons Of Sardaar too, but has shelved it.
