Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the director of films Rang De Basanti and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is back with another film that puts nation, emotion and the common man front and centre, Mere Pyare Prime Minister.
The story of Kanhu, the child of a single mother, Sargam, who gets raped decides to walk up to 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, the official residence of the Prime Minister of India, with his friends to personally deliver a letter to him and find justice for his mother.
The trailer looks quite upbeat for a difficult topic but with the innocence of the children depicted beautifully, it seems to not underplay the gravity of the situation. Featuring Om Kanojia as Kanhu and Anjali Patil is Sargam, the cast also includes Atul Kulkarni and Makrand Deshpande. Watch it here.
The film premiered at Rome Film Festival 2018 and is releasing in India on March 15, 2019.
