Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur and eternal love in the time of partition. The official trailer of Kalank is here.

We know you’ve been waiting so here it is. The trailer of Abhishek Varman’s magnum opus Kalank is here.
Set in the 1940s, it is the story of how a moment’s anger can only lead to destruction of all. Alia Bhatt plays a women who marries Aditya Roy Kapur, who is already happily married to Sonakshi Sinha, as his second wife. He declares he has no love to offer to her, but Varun Dhawan, a commoner, has attention in spades to give. If that is not enough to create problems in the lives of all, he is Muslim too, and the Hindu-Muslim riots around partition are across the bend.
The main cast of the film comprises of Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt, and if we spotted it correctly in the trailer, Kiara Advani (1:18), Kunal Khemu (1:31), and Kriti Sanon (1:40) make appearances too. And the last scene of the trailer has a gripping moment (pun intended). Watch now.

This is Varman’s second film after 2 States (also featuring Alia Bhatt), who is a self proclaimed fan of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. And it shows! The film looks less like set around partition, and more like a fantasy fable like Bhansali’s Devdas. Kalank releases in two weeks, on 17 April. Are you going?
