Have you heard of the book The Zoya Factor by Anuja Chauhan? Sonam Kapoor, a known bookworm, got the book to be made into a movie and star in it.
The film follows Zoya Solanki, a 27-year-old woman who seems to be failing at life when it comes to her job in advertising and her love life. Until she is assigned to an ad project featuring the Indian cricket team, and the myth of her being India’s Lucky Charm takes root. Nikhil Khoda, the captain who believes in hard work is very unhappy with this. But as Khoda and Solanki start to fall for each other, will India’s love for the illogical and her need to be good at something cause her to fail at love again? Watch the trailer.
Dulquer Salmaan plays the role of the hot six-pack bearing Indian cricket captain. Given the recent picture of Virat Kohli with Jasprit Bumrah, we can say Indian cricket does indeed have a lot of those. The comedy film also features Angad Bedi as Solanki’s brother and Sanjay Kapoor as her father.
The Zoya Factor produced by Fox Star Studios has been directed by Abhishek Sharma. Sharma’s previous films include Tere Bin Laden and the sequel. and most recently Parmanu. Sonam Kapoor was last seen in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga and Dulquer Salmaan made his debut in Hindi cinema last year with the lovely Karwaan. Kapoor is already working on a film based on another book by Anuja Chauhan, called Battle for Bittora, produced by her sister Rhea Kapoor.
Anuja Chauhan’s book was a bestseller and is quite funny as she has poured a lot of her advertising years experience and wit into it. The book elaborates on Solanki being born on the day the Indian cricket team created history by winning the ICC Cricket World Cup on 25 June 1983. She has long been seen as lucky for Indian cricket by her family, only she never knew about it.
The Zoya Factor releases on 20 September 2019, after a couple of delays. Initially, it’s release was meant to coincide with the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.
