The trailer of Dil Bechara has been released today by Disney+ Hotstar. Based on the bestselling novel “The Fault in Our Stars” by author John Green, Dil Bechara is a story of Kizie and Ani, two ordinary people living an unordinary life.
The film stars Sanjana Sanghi in the role of Kizie Basu, a teenager afflicted with cancer, and Sushant Singh Rajput as Ani, who is a cancer survivor. As Kizie tries to cope with cancer and survive every day, Ani reminds her to live fully while she’s here. The film also sees Saswata Chatterjee and Swastika Mukherjee in pivotal roles with a special appearance by Saif Ali Khan. Watch the trailer here.
The film marks the directorial debut of the famous casting director Mukesh Chhabra, and the adaptation has written by Shashank Khaitan and Suprotim Sengupta. It’s Hollywood counterpart, “The Fault in Our Stars” starred Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort and was a big hit. The music is composed by A.R. Rahman with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The film is produced by Fox Star Studios.
As the character says towards the end of the trailer, birth or death is not entirely in our control, but how we choose to live is. So thank you Sushant, for living a life where your mind hoped to explore the world’s deepest mysteries and your heart wished to live every emotion to its fullest. For the period you graced this world, you were truly here. RIP.
Dil Bechara was slated for a release in theatres last year on 29 November 2019 but got embroiled in the Me Too controversy. It was then slated for release again on 8 May 2020, but Coronavirus took over the world.
Dil Bechara will release on Disney+ Hotstar on July 24. The streaming platform will make the film available for free to all as the film is Sushant Singh Rajput’s swansong, who passed away on June 14.
