It stars Hrithik Roshan in the titular role, who’s put on tanning lotion in copious amounts yet wears form-fitting shirts to show off his muscles in a really bad attempt to look like Kumar (see photograph below). The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi as Hrithik aka Anand’s rival in the film, and Mrunal Thakur, Amit Sadh and Nandish Sandhu in relevant roles. But the ones who shine in the trailer are the young students who represent the potential of India. Watch it here.
Super 30 is a film that got caught front and centre in the Me Too India scandal, with director Vikas Bahl being called out by his own partners at Phantom Films over sexual misconduct with an employee. The producers never took a firm enough stance on this situation and were probably waiting for Bahl’s name to clear to release the trailer of the long-delayed film now. Vikas Bahl was given a clean chit on 1 June 2019 by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Reliance Entertainment, which is co-producing upcoming film Super 30. His credit on the film appears in the trailer title.
The other co-producers are Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and the now-defunct Phantom Films. The film has been written by Farhad Samji. Vikas Bahl has not been held guilty formally by a panel or in court, so it is as fair if you believe he’s innocent. But if you do believe Vikas Bahl is guilty, going to the theatre to watch this film makes you an endorser of harassment. Super 30 is all set to hit the screens on 12 July 2019.
