The Nightcrawler writer director Dan Gilroy has re-teamed with stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo for the contemporary art horror thriller Velvet Buzzsaw, which just had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2019. The film also stars Toni Collette, Zawe Ashton, Tom Sturridge, Natalia Dyer, Daveed Diggs, Billy Magnussen, and John Malkovich.
The plot revolves around the high brow art world. After a series of paintings by an unknown artist are discovered, they start to make a killing, literally.
Mixing satire with the supernatural, it is a genre bending gamble that may or not work. And the audience gets to decide as it goes straight to Netflix. With a limited releases in theatres if you like the big screen too, you can find the film on Netflix here.
