Kesari is based on the true story of Battle of Saragarhi, 1897. Often regards as one of the bravest battle ever fought, it is the story of 21 courageous Sikhs soldiers (of the British Indian Army) who fought 10,000 Afghan invaders against all odds. All 21 of them were posthumously awarded the Indian Order of Merit, the highest gallantry award for an Indian soldier in that time.
