Section 377 Bye Bye. #filmtribe

There were 74 countries it was illegal to be gay in. Today that changed to 73.
Section 377 repealed in India. Thank you Supreme Court.

Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was introduced by the British Empire in 1861, inspired by the 1553 Buggery Act that outlawed homosexuality in England. While it became legal to be gay in the UK in 1967, with biases removed over time until 2003 (Read the full timeline of LGBT rights progress in the UK here.), India has taken its first momentous legislative step forward today.
And it’s on a date we really like for it, 6/9 ;).

RIP Prof. Ramchandra Siras. It’s time. Thank you Hansal Mehta for sharing his story via ALIGARH.

A big thank you to an incredible judicial bench, comprising of five Supreme Court judges, namely Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, Justices R F Nariman, A M Khanwilkar, D Y Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra.
And to all the filmmakers and artists who have endeavored for equality with cinema. #lovewins
