The film’s trailer shows a single modern Bengali pregnant woman (Patralekhaa) living in a gali named Badnaam Lane. The residents are quite curious about her character and mysterious lifestyle. And caught off guard and in the web is a cliche Punjabi man Randeep Singh Sodhi (Divyenndu Sharma), much to his aunt’s chagrin. Ironically, he’s come to Delhi to live with his aunt (played by Dolly Ahluwalia) for some peace and to escape his family in Punjab. Watch the trailer.
The trailer never mentions she’s a surrogate, though Zee5 has declared it everywhere else, as it is a film meant to address some of the stigma associated with surrogacy.
Directed by Ashwin Shetty, co-written by Ravi Bhushan and Shabia Walia, and with cinematography by Ravi Walia, it features Patralekhaa and currently hot Divyenndu Sharma, who was most recently seen in the Amazon Original Mirzapur and received favourable reviews for the same.
The Zee5 Original movie Badnaam Gali is scheduled to release on May 10 on Mother’s Day.
