Tigers is the true story of a former Nestlé baby milk salesman in Pakistan, called Syed Aamir Raza (Hashmi), who took on the industry with the help of IBFAN (the International Baby Food Action Network) when he realised that babies are dying as a result of his work pressuring doctors to promote formula in a country where a large part of the population does not have access to clean water.
It has a great international cast in Emraan Hashmi, Adil Hussain, Geetanjali Thapa, Satyadeep Misra, the Kite Runner actor Khalid Abdalla and Golden Globe nominee Danny Huston. The film by Oscar winning director Danis Tanovic had its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival in 2014 but was stuck in pre-distribution drama for the longest time. It is finally releasing on ZEE5 India on November 21. And the film is worth a watch!
For those in the UK, Baby Milk Action, which acts to stop misleading marketing by the baby feeding industry, is holding screenings of the film in cinemas from November 16 – December 8. Click here to book.
