The teaser of Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj plays off the title of the show, with a sketch showing 3 NSA-adjacent surveillance agents tracking his whereabouts and communication. As per Netflix, in this new topical weekly show, comedian Hasan Minhaj will cut through the noise and explore the modern cultural and political landscape with depth and sincerity.
Netflix has ordered an unprecedented 32 episodes already, to be released weekly until the end of 2019. It is co-created by Prashanth Venkataramanujam and led by showrunner Jim Margolis, both of whom have previously worked with Minhaj at The Daily Show.
Hasan Minhaj has been a senior correspondent on on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show from 2014 to 2018. He came to widespread notice in 2017 when he was the featured speaker at the 2017 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and his 2017 Netflix special Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King earned him a 2018 Peabody Award.
New episodes of the political comedy show will drop every Sunday, starting October 28. This would be the streaming giant’s only active weekly talk show. Add it to your watchlist here on Netflix (pun intended, lol).
