This is not a festival film. We promise. And so does director Vasan Bala. The Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota director may be channelizing all his ad making experience to good use. Vasan Bala has been behind some of the biggest brand campaigns over the last few years. And the promotional campaign seems to reflect his style and signature. The Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota team seems to have come up with the most amusing promotional campaign, in tribute to the film itself.
The film is an action comedy, a martial arts action film / love letter to Bollywood and Matunga, about a young man (Abhimanyu Dassani) quite literally born with the ability to feel no pain strikes out on a quest to vanquish 100 foes (including Gulshan Devaiah). And it’s supposed to be really funny and quirky during all the slick action.
The latest trailer reflects the same. The film, which is the first Indian film to win the Midnight Madness award at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival winner and was the Mumbai Film Festival opening film, has decided to let you know why it’s not a ‘festival film’, as considered by Indians. Watch it here.
There have also been a lot of witty and eccentric promos and posters of the actors, Abhimanyu Dassani, Radhika Madan and Gulshan Devaiah. Watch the promo where Radhika Madan takes on nepotism here, and the promo where Abhimanyu Dassani takes a dig at himself here. The film releases on 21 March 2019, courtesy Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP films. Are you going to watch?
