As an Indian, the chances of someone enjoying cricket and entertainment is pretty high. Netflix put the two together in the original series Selection Day.
The series follows two teenagers Radha (Yash Shashank Dholye) and Manju (Mohammad Samad) are brought to Mumbai from Badhona Village in Madhya Pradesh, their strict cricket-obsessed father Mohan (Rajesh Tailang), in the hope of them becoming star cricketers. But it’s not as easy as Mohan had thought, until he meets the coach Tommy Sir (Mahesh Manjrekar) who comes back to cricket for the boys.
But 14-year-old Manju doesn’t share his father’s dream. He wants to be a scientist and is attracted to his elder brother’s greatest cricket rival, Javed (Karanvir Malhotra). Will Manju be able to help his father see his dreams are different from him? Will he succumb? Or will he run? Watch the trailer here.
Season 1 Part 2 of Selection Day premieres on Netflix on 19 April 2019. Part 1 premiered on Netflix on 28 December 2018. For information on the beginning of Season 1, click here.
