Netflix has released the official teaser trailer for Season 6, picking up at the point where Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) has been President for a 100 days and Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) is dead. It also brings in Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear as a pair of siblings with political ties to the Underwoods.
Notably, Netflix stalled production of Season 6 last fall due to numerous allegations of sexual assault made against Kevin Spacey, who was shooting for the series at the point. In support of the #MeToo movement, he was fired by Netflix. And the series resumed production after a rewrite.
And the Season 6 trailer promises the same thing the movement has aimed at – “It’s going to be different for you and me.”
The series is created by Beau Willimon, screenwriter of the upcoming Mary Queen of Scots. The final season will be available for streaming on November 2 on Netflix.
Trivia: The show came about as a result of big data. Netflix had analyzed that subscribers who watched the original British version of House of Cards were very likely to watch movies starring Kevin Spacey or directed by David Fincher and political thrillers. David Fincher was one of the directors of Season 1. Your addiction was engineered.
