Ayushmann Khurrana in the Dream Girl trailer becomes the voice of seductress Pooja for an adult phone chat service for men.

Ayushmann Khurrana has created a space of his own that has found both mass and critical appeal. And most recently, a win as Best Actor for Andhadhun at the 66th National Film Awards. The trailer of his latest film Dream Girl proves yet again why his choices make him special.

Khurrana, in and as Dream Girl, plays a small-town actor in Mathura who plays Sita, Radha and other female mythological characters in theatre, much to the chagrin of his father (Annu Kapoor). He decides to get a job, only it is a much taller order than he imagined. Through a comedy of errors, he lands a job as a telecaller, only for adult chat with men as the seductress Pooja. Bringing in his years of experience playing female characters, Pooja becomes the hottest thing in town, whose callers include a policeman played by Vijay Raaz, a young man (Akash Banerjee), and a woman (Nidhi Bisht).

But as usual, when things spiral out of control, will he have his family, love interest (Nushrat Bharucha) and friend (Manjot Singh) be by his side? Watch the trailer.

A comedy of errors written and directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the screenwriter of such films as Freaky Ali (2016) and Bhoomi (2017), who makes his debut as a director with this film.

The film title refers to the 1977 hit film and song Dream Girl, starring Hema Malini and Dharmendra. And in a special moment, at the end of the trailer, a man appears in silhouette with Dharmendra’s voice. Is he back for his Dream Girl? Well, we will have to watch the film to find out.

The film produced by Balaji Motion Pictures will release on 13 September 2019.
