Andhadhun on its second weekend made more money than all new film releases… put together!

Four new hindi films and two big Hollywood films released on Friday, 12 October. These were Tumbbad, Helicopter Eela, Jalebi, FryDay, A Star is Born and First Man. And here is how they fared at the box office on the weekend.

Tumbbad: ₹ 3.25 cr.
Helicopter Eela: ₹ 3.05 cr.
Jalebi: ₹ 1.65 cr.
FryDay: ₹ 1.10 cr.
TOTAL = ₹ 9.05 cr.

Of the above, Tumbbad was the only one to show great growth post Friday due to a great word of mouth. It made – Fri ₹ 65 lakhs, Sat ₹ 1.15 cr, Sun ₹ 1.45 cr. Let’s see what the week has in store for it.
A Star Is Born and First Man too couldn’t cross ₹ 1 crore mark on Friday.

So not only did Andhadhun make more money than all four Hindi films put together this weekend, quite possibly, it has made more money than all 6 new releases.

Written and directed by Sriram Raghavan, the thriller film showcases a series of mysterious events take place in the life of a blind pianist (Ayushmann Khurrana). Now, he must report a crime that he never actually witnessed – the murder of a former film actor. The film also features Tabu and Radhika Apte. His last film Badlapur turned Varun Dhawan’s career from being typecast to a legit actor with range to play characters like in Shoojit Sircar’s 2018 wonder of a film, October

In its first week, it made ₹ 27.65 cr.
And on Weekend 2, the impressive collections were – ₹ Fri 3 cr, Sat ₹ 5.50 cr, Sun ₹ 5.75 cr., leading to an impressive total of ₹ 14.25 cr.
With its total of ₹ 41.90 cr, it has already been declared a hit. This means its made double its investment at the box office already. Have you watched it yet?
