Black comedy is a genre not explored enough in Indian cinema and television. If you are a big fan of Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983) by Kundan Shah, then you do not want to give Afsos a miss. Afsos is the new original series that releases on Amazon Prime Video tomorrow, 7 February 2020.
An emotionally disturbed Nakul (Gulshan Devaiah) has failed at 11 attempts of suicide. While his therapist tells him to fight back (Anjali Patil), Nakul pays an assassin, Upadhyay (Heeba Shah) and her handler (Ratnabali Bhattacharjee), to assist him with suicide. But he has a change of heart, once his therapist professes feelings beyond work for him. Unfortunately for Nakul, Upadhyay is the only professional here who takes her job seriously and intends on seeing the assignment through until its bitter end. Watch the trailer here.
Created by Dibya Chatterjee and comedian Anirban Dasgupta, they have co-written it with Sourav Ghosh Khan. The eight-episode series has been directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, sister of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. The cast includes Danish Sait and Dhruv Sehgal.
