Whether the film Arjun Patiala turns out to be different or not, the trailer definitely is. Why? Because it recognises all the cliches of the film plot.
It is yet another cop film, seeing Diljit Dosanjh is a character sketch similar to some of his Punjabi films, Kriti Sanon, as a small town progressive girl again (and a TV journalist like in Luka Chuppi), Varun Sharma as an over the top sidekick to the ‘hero’ and a standard issue ‘item song’ by Sunny Leone. They don’t tell us much about the plot but Diljit and Varun play small town cops and Kriti is a crime reporter. We also see some glorious actors like Ronit Roy, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Seema Pahwa in the trailer. Watch now.
The film is directed by Rohit Jugraj (frequent Dosanjh collaborator of Sardaarji 1 and 2) and written by the Filmfare Award winning writer Ritesh Shah with Sandeep Leyzell.
The cop spoof comedy Arjun Patiala is produced by Maddock Films – the makers of Stree and Hindi Medium – and will release on 26 July 2019.
