Hrithik Roshan takes a stand on Vikas Bahl in the wake of Phantom Films dissolution.

Over the past weekend, India has witnessed the first real stand being taken in relation to the Me Too Movement. Phantom Films founding partners dissolved their company over sexual assault allegations against the Queen director Vikas Bahl, one of four filmmakers behind the company. (If this is the first you are reading in this, go here to catch up – Phantom Films dissolves. But will Vikas Bahl pay?)

And now Hrithik Roshan, who is working as the main lead in Vikas Bahl’s upcoming film Super 30, has released a statement saying, “It is impossible for me to work with any person IF he/she is guilty of such grave misconduct. I am away and have access to only sporadic information. I have requested the producers of Super 30 to take stock of the apparent facts and take a harsh stand IF need be. This is not to be hushed or brushed under the carpet. All proven offenders must be punished and all exploited people must be empowered and given strength to speak up.”

Hrithik Roshan’s Twitter Statement

Notedly, the news of this first came out in April 2017, which we now know was leaked by Anurag Kashyap himself. This is one month after Vikramaditya Motwane and Madhu Mantena got to know of the incident and started to invoke measures to address it. Kashyap himself has said he did his bit to name and shame Vikas Bahl everywhere he could at that moment. Neither of the three partners question the legitimacy of the incident, which has contributed to the dissolution of the company in a small or big ratio (we wouldn’t know the other factors.)

Today, Bollywood Hungama has also released a statement by Nayani Dixit, who played Kangana Ranaut’s character’s friend in Queen. She believes the girl from Phantom too, and says, “Whatever the girl has accused Vikas Bahl is not at all wrong because he also tried his hand on me”. She also talks about his advances towards a 21-year-old costume department crew member, making her very uncomfortable.

According to her, how did one of the best feminist films in recent times come from a filmmaker like Vikas Bahl? “By God’s grace, we had a great team, including his chief AD. She knew her work very well. It’s all her contribution and Vikas just took the credit and the National Award.” Read the full article here.
