Kaafir is the new Zee5 Original starring Dia Mirza and Mohit Raina. Set in Kashmir, the series follows the journey of a journalist and former lawyer who is looking for a story for his station that gets the viewership. Only he ends up on a path where he goes back to lawyering to seek justice for an alleged militant.

Dia Mirza stars in the role of a Pakistani mother behind bars in Kashmir as the alleged militant, whose daughter is growing up with her there (and probably born there) and often sees herself as an Indian. Mohit Raina, last seen in Uri plays the journalist. He also happens to be a lawyer who starts his practice again, just for this case.

The series has been written by Bhavani Iyer, who co-wrote the screenplay for Raazi with Meghna Gulzar. The series inspired by true events has been directed by Sonam Nair (of Gippi) and is produced by Siddharth and Sapna Malhotra. Kaafir is releasing on 15 June on Zee5 Premium.
