The official synopsis reads as –
“Iron-fisted Akhandanand Tripathi (Pankaj Tripathi) is a millionaire carpet exporter and the mafia don of Mirzapur. His son, Munna (Divyendu Sharma — an unworthy, power-hungry heir — will stop at nothing to inherit his father’s legacy. An incident at a wedding procession forces him to cross paths with Ramakant Pandit (Rajesh Tailang), an upstanding lawyer, and his sons, Guddu (Ali Fazal) and Bablu (Vikrant Massey). The journey of two brothers lured by the idea of power only to get consumed by it, Mirzapur is an amped-up portrayal of India’s heartland and youth. It’s a world replete with drugs, guns, and lawlessness, where caste, power, egos and tempers intersect, and violence is the only way of life.”
Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the Banaras based gangster saga also features Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Harshita Gaur in supporting roles.
The web series has been created by Karan Anshuman and Puneet Krishna, with Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar of Excel Entertainment serving as executive producers. All four were behind the first Indian Amazon Prime Original series, Inside Edge. Inside Edge is nominated for an International Emmy and currently in production for Season 2. Mirzapur is the fifth Amazon Prime Original series from India, the other three crime thriller Breathe, comedy reality series Comicstaan, and the dating reality series Hear Me. Love Me.
And they have finally shared the release date! Streaming all episodes on November 16, Mirzapur will have nine episodes in its first season.
