Sandhya Suri’s The Field​ wins at Toronto Film Festival 2018.

Sandhya Suri’s short film THE FIELD​ has won the IWC Short Cuts Award ($10000) for Best International Short Film at TIFF 2018.

It features Mia Maelzer in the protagonist’s role. Suri currently teaches on the MA in Cinematic Non-Fiction at University College London (UCL), London.

The synopsis of the 19-minute films reads as –

A poor agricultural labourer leads a double life in the village’s last remaining cornfield. But the harvest is approaching.

“The film is striking for its aesthetic lyricism, tender performances, and powerful emotional impact.” said the Jury at Toronto International Film Festival. Watch the trailer here.
